How much paint will I need to repaint each car?

I want to repaint my '94 Caprice SS for shows. How much paint was originally needed to paint the car in the factory?I want to repaint in either DuPont's Chromalusion or H.O.K.'s Kameleon. But I know all the needed 'extras' will actually make more paint. There's the paint itself. Then you need a reducer. Also a activator. And whatever a base is.I know you have to mix 1 to 1.So if I mix 1qt of each, that gives me like 1 gallon of paint.I was also told I will need to have 3-4 coates for a good job. Then of course there's the clearcoat needed. And I know that the paint is expensive as heck.So I don't want to over-purchase.Do you know how much paint will be needed to paint the car?I also have an '02 Neon that I am rebuilding from a wreck that eventually I want to do also.Thanks.|||About 3/4 gal of Base-coat and 1 gallon of Clear-coat

you'll have to factor in the amount of activator and reducers. Also the side of the "DuPont Chromalusion" it will tell the ratio for proper set up.|||2.5 litres of gloss mixed in the dulux mixing machine at your local B and Q store should do the trick . Then if you run out they can always mix more the same colour for you .

Get Lee to mix it for you as Tim always uses the wrong bases and makes a right mess of it.|||I haven't used any paint that was mixed 1 to 1, Get a hvlp gun (high volume low pressure) and you will use allot less paint than a gravity feed. A couple quarts should be plenty if you know what your doing.|||If you are going to use chromilusion you will want a pro to do it. With the price of that paint last I heard something like $675 a quart one screw up and you will cost yourself $1500 and that is no joke. If you are good do all your prep work yourself and take it in and have the final paintwork done professionally. You will be talking 3-4 quarts of color to do a full car if you are real. Frugal with it and that is before mixing.
