Stigma against marijuana: How can it be removed?

Alright, recently I posted up a question to ask if I could get a girlfriend to tolerate marijuana, but really, getting this as an answer isn't too kind, is it?

"But that's all you are, a pathetic little pothead trying to get everyone else to be a pothead so that you look less stupid than you really are. I'm sick and tired of morons like you who whine and whine and whine and whine about marijuana not being legal"

Stupid? This is the response from some who are heavily influenced from the "Above the influence" commercials, or anti-cannabis sentiment from the days of DuPont. Of course I'm stupid, because I smoke marijuana, huh?

There's nothing wrong with it. Didn't offend me, but it worried me*. I'm worried that the stigma against Cannabis will continue to consume close-minded fools who actually deeply trust the government. Really, it's not that I want to convert everyone to be a pothead, I want the ignorance to stop. |||Pressure congress to legalize it.|||I am not sure what your song and dance is about, however several countries you can do it legally just not in this one yet, things are always changing. They went from outlawing it completely to cancer patients , now they can get it with a prescription.

However when I was younger I have done it, now that I am older I have no desire to do it. However your right in the same wing as ranting, because this is a rant post. No different then the ones giving their opinions.|||I think that trying to convert people into being potheads is wrong. If you use it, you can offer it to them, and if they say no, they say no.

You want to work against the stigma of weed? Then prove it by example, use it and be everything that they say you can't be. Go to college, get a good job, be responsible, etc.... all while smoking weed. That's how you counteract the stigma.|||yeah cuz we all know the government would never lie to get something it want's right?

|||pfo is right plus there are so many people out there who u would never expect to do it because they have good jobs and good lives and pay all their bills and crap. u cant make people who think its wrong think its ok its a losing battle i suggest u just do ur thing and not worry about what the rest of the world thinks. keep it to urself and stay out of trouble with it and thats all u need to worry about. be urself be a good person and live a good life and ur smoking will not hurt you as long as u dont get caught. i highly doubt u are going to change any ones mind especially not the government look at the kottonmouth kings theyve been going at it for forever if youve listened to any of their music if not check them out it will make u feel a little more at ease that ur not the only one who feels the way u do|||what reasoned research have you done exactly? Sounds like you have only considered your own self serving and biased opinion, plus maybe a few also biased sources.

Truth is, there are independent and unbiased sources that show there are damages from smoking. A common sense one would be that you are not doing your lungs any good.

In general, although I don't smoke, I am sympathetic to getting rid of anti-pot laws.

But even if that happens, it does not mean there won't be a stigma - in many crowds, being drunk or buzzed, even if legal, carries a stigma.

The really short answer for you, is, if your girlfriend doesn't like something that you counsider a core part of your very existence, then what is up with *YOU* having *HER* for a girlfriend in the first place?

Find another girl who likes you for you.
