Do you think there's a war on Drugs?

Grown worldwide for millennial as a source of food, medicine, fiber and paper, hemp was banned for the first time in human history in 1938 by the United States.

The original impetus for outlawing the hemp plant came from the DuPont and Mellon families with an important assist from William Randolf Hearst.

Hearst owned timber rights for millions of acres of forest land, the raw material for newsprint. DuPont had patents for numerous synthetic products that hemp is competitive with

Now, as of 1995 we even have synthetic Marijuana thank to a grant from the USA to John W.Huffman of Clemson University at Clemson, SC.

So it looks like big brother wasn't interested in people's well being as it is in promoting big profits for Big business.

People are even dying from this synthetic Marijuana known as Spice, K2

Hmm...They said there's a war on drugs, don't believe it. Outlawing things just make them more profitable. The Mafia taught us that lesson during prohibition|||That is a miss use of words

.

There can not be a war declared on drugs

.

That is impossible

.

The battle is on the people that are trying to sell the stuff

.|||Actually the DEA put out an Emergency ban on Spice in all 50 states....and each state is know responsible to ban Spice which many have. There is a war on drugs that is why the prisons are filled with non-violent criminals.

http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/jackalo鈥?/a>|||word games typically lead to nowhere, if the current actions are called a war on drugs, than yes there's a war on drugs.|||No - what happens is that Billionaires get richer by building prisons and then filling them up with "drug offenders". There's LOTS of money in keeping drugs illegal.

Just quit voting republican.|||IF THERE IS NOT, THERE SHOULD BE|||Yes its to allow more drugs in the country as it is being done in California.. now the Government is backing these parlors up. Can you Imagine?|||Christine... they only banned 5 of the most popular chemicals used to make the blends, and the names k2 and spice.

There are still tons of similar stuff being sold under legal loop holes.

In the defense of law makers, its only legal because the users are smarter and have taken advantage of legal loop holes and drugs that have been legal for a very long time, just largely under ground as far as recreational use is concerned. As they have caught on, they have passed laws, but in a very stupid manner. Threatening a ban that fell through at the end of last year simply flooded the streets with those 5, and waiting til march for the actual ban simply gave vendors enough time to find/synth new chemicals that do not fall under the ban.

All that being said, no, the war is not on drugs. The war is against a truely free capitalist market, in order to manipulate how other products do. I get business is business, and no one wants their competitors to do better than they are. But a racist campaign followed by a slew of studies that break every rule of the scientific method is NOT the way it should be done in America.
